Take action

We have two club options:

Our traditional club meets every week at 12:30 for lunch and our meeting and guest speaker start at 1:00.  We are meeting at the Best Western Conference Center – 301 Main Street – SSI.

Our After Hours Club offers more flexibility for those who may find attending traditional weekly meetings difficult due to busy schedules or other commitments.  The After Hours Club meets at 5:30 p.m. on 2nd and 4th Thursdays every month.  Meetings do not include a meal and last no more than 1 hour.

Community Engagement

Our club is very active supporting and sponsoring community activies.

Below is just a sample of our involvement.

TAPS at Twilight

TAPS is a major local community event arranged by the St. Simons Rotary Club to honor the men and women who have fallen in the service of our country, those who have valiantly served and returned, and those who are serving today. The tribute was begun in 1991 as an annual observance of Memorial Day.  To watch the virtual Taps from 2020, please click here.

Reading Rockets

After months of inactivity due to the pandemic, Reading Rockets is finally taking off again!  Reading Rockets will collaborate with Glynn County Schools to videotape Reading Rockets volunteers reading selected books for the children. Once recorded, the videos are uploaded to the SSI Rotary Reading Rockets YouTube Channel. This project will build an archive of auditory reading resources accessible to all of the pre-K, kindergarten and first grade teachers, as well children and their parents far and wide.

Rotary Scholarship Fund

The scholarship awards vary in number and size each year.  The club typically awards scholarships of $3000 per year for 4 years of undergraduate study ($1500 for each of the fall and spring semesters).

The College or University may be located in or outside the state of Georgia, and must be fully accredited.  Recipients are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, community service and other demonstration of personal character, as well as financial need.

The Rotary Club of St Simons Island

Benefiting the community and our world through action, integrity, service, and fellowship.

The Rotary Club of St Simons Island is the largest, most active and well-known service organization in the community. We are a leadership organization working together to make a difference. Our members include local business, nonprofit, professional and civic leaders. We form lasting friendships through our shared Rotary experiences including weekly meetings with interesting speakers, committee meetings and projects, social events and group service projects within our community and internationally.

Diversity & Inclusion

Having a diverse and inclusive Rotary Club means we value and welcome individuals of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, and races to our Club. We invite younger people, women, and minorities who support Rotary’s values, ideals, and mission to join our members in service to our community, and we strive to give all members equal opportunities to serve as leaders within our Club.
